GLOSSARY

fascicle – a condensed clusteror flowers or leaves

pollinator – this is the vector of pollen transfer, as opposed to the producer of the pollen. Generally this refers to a particular insect. A bumblebee therefore, is an example of a pollinator, since it transfers the pollen from one blossom to another.

pollenizer – this is the origin of the pollen (the pollen source) that is instumental to the pollination of another flower. An example of a pollenizer is a crabapple tree, as it aids in the pollination of a neighboring apple tree. It is to be distinguished from a pollinator (see above). The word pollinator is often misused to describe a pollenizer.
