Ordering, Shipping & Local Pick Up

Local Pick-Up at the nursery

Plants ordered online may be picked up in person, by appointment at the nursery.

shipping schedule

Trees and bushes are generally shipped in late April or early May, unless by arrangement.

Scionwood and rootstock is shipped Feb-May.

We generally ship early in the week and do our best to ensure timely shipment, but the weather is an essential player in all of our scheduling and sometimes spring orders get delayed due to heavy snow or cold temperatures. If you require a specific arrival date for your plants, let us know and we will do our best to accommodate your needs. And if the weather gets inclement in your area and you’d like to postpone your shipment until spring really arrives, just let us know.

order confirmation

We cannot guarantee fulfillment of your order until it is packed, since we sometimes experience inventory loss from wildlife or weather. If an item you ordered is not available at shipping time we will notify you and make substitution recommendations or refund the cost of the item.

What to expect when the order arrives

Most plants are shipped bare root, packaged tightly in a moist packing material, in a 4-foot cardboard box. We often use recycled boxes and packing materials to minimize our ecological footprint.

We include instructions on how to care for your plants when they arrive. and planting instructions can be found in the education section of our website. Additional information regarding the plants needs - zone, sun/shade, soil requirements - can be found by reviewing the product description on our website.

shipping service used

We use the United State Postal Service Priority Mail for shipping orders. Our rural location makes it difficult to ship using multiple shipping organizations, which may mean that you will need to have orders sent to a secondary address if USPS does not deliver direct to you. We will not send an order to a USPS non-deliverable addresses or P.O. Box. It is best to unpack your order the day it arrives and follow the enclosed care instructions. If the plants or the box arrive damaged, please let us know.

Shipping restrictions

Some species of plants are restricted plants in certain regions of the U.S. We try to warn customers about bans or restrictions on certain species, but it is your responsibility to know if your state allows import of the species you order.

shipping to other countries

Certain products can be shipped anywhere in the world (tools, books, seeds), but we cannot ship live plants cannot be shipped outside of the U.S.

Warranty

Once plants leave the nursery we do not accept returns, however if a problem should occur let us know as soon as possible so that we can determine the cause and resolve the issue.
