Also Swazie, False Pomme Gris. Heirloom New York apple. Wild discover on the Swazie farm near Niagara NY in 1854. Small to medium sized bronze colored fruit. Complete russeting. Disease resistant and cold hardy. Highly flavored. Similar in many respects to Pomme Gris, but here in Walden Vermont the fruit is later and much firmer in texture. Healthy tree and reliable but less productive than P.Gris. Ripens in late September or early October in northern Vermont. Rare.
