Description
Heirloom Maine apple. Red with russet patching, about medium in size. Good quality for fresh eating, but all purpose. Flesh is green-yellow and full flavored, tart. Early 1800s. Small core makes it easy for processing. Thought to be a seedling of Blue Pearmain, open pollinated, from Guilford, ME, United States. Name comes from Jeremiah Rolfe, an interceding owner of the property sporting the original tree. Productive, vigorous and cold hardy tree (zone 4 and likely colder). Late season (later in October in zone 3). Keeps well.
