$6.00 – $79.00
Large red apple
Mild, low acid variety
Keeps well
Discovered 1940s Wisconsin
Description
Connell Red is a large red apple with a mild flavor. It is a bud sport of the Fireside apple (see Fireside description), but is much milder in flavor and develops red skin earlier in the season. It was discovered in 1949 (Menomonee, Wisconsin) by William Connell. Keeps well in storage, where it develops more complex flavor. Ripens late, the end of October here in northern Vermont. All purpose, but best for those who fans of low acid, less assertive apples.
