Description
This is a large yellow round apple. Release from Walden Heights Nursery and Orchard in the 1990s in northern Vermont. Good for tart fresh eating early and mellowing to sweet as it yellows. Excellent pie apple. Selected from antonovka line (open pollinated). Productive and very cold hardy tree. Strong and vigorous in growth, it also sports good branch angles and general form. Name is Russian, noting the antonovka original (and “Anton’s Apple”) and its spherical tendency in fruit shape.
