Description
Ranetka is one of the most cold hardy crabapples. A true crab (fruit often less than 3/4 of an inch). Note, this product is for the unselected seedling version, not a grafted selection. This means fruit will be variable, but most often small, tannic and tart. Great addition to all cider types, and jellies or syrups. Also a prized pollenizer for the north. Often used as a rootstock when young, or as a topworked variety in zones 2 and 3. Vigorous and tough tree. A good option if you want to raise your own seedling rootstocks, as the progeny are often very similar to the parent tree.
